Hey there, I'm Justin, your resident pool afficionado. And today, I'm going to be talking about the Aiper Seagull Pro and the recall just announced. If you've watched my previous video on the alleged Aiper Seagull Fire, I wanted to share an update I thought all my viewers should know.

On March 20, 2025, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced a recall of over 35,000 units of the Aiper Seagull Pro cordless robotic pool cleaner due to a serious fire and burn hazard related to its charging system.

Why This Recall is Critical

With over 19 reports of the recalled Aiper Seagull Pro melting, smoking, and even catching fire while charging, these robots pose a serious fire risk to you and your family.

The issue stems from the lithium-ion battery system, which, under certain conditions, may overheat and pose a fire risk.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, there have been over 19 reports of these pool cleaners overheating, melting, smoking, and in some cases, catching fire. Some users have reported incidents where the unit or its charger became dangerously hot, resulting in scorched surfaces and property damage.

While there are no confirmed reports of injuries, the risk is significant enough that the Consumer Product Safety Commission has classified this as a serious safety recall, urging all Seagull Pro owners to take immediate action.

Las Vegas House Fire Incident

A widely reported incident in Las Vegas has drawn attention to this recall. One homeowner alleged that their Aiper Seagull Pro caught fire while charging, leading to a house fire that destroyed their home.

Fox News and other media outlets covered this event, showing footage of the aftermath, including burned structures and emergency responders attempting to resuscitate the homeowner's pet cat.

While the cause of this fire has not been officially determined, the homeowner claimed that their Seagull Pro was plugged in and charging when the fire started. Investigations are ongoing, and no official determination has been made linking the Seagull Pro to the fire.

Aiper's Recall History: A Troubling Pattern

This is not the first recall involving an Aiper cordless pool cleaner.

In August 2023, Aiper recalled over 22,000 units of the Aiper Elite Pro due to burn and fire hazards.

The Aiper Seagull Pro was introduced as a replacement for the Elite Pro, after the previous recall.

Now, the Seagull Pro—the very model introduced as a replacement—is facing its own recall for the same overheating and fire hazards.

It is concerning that a model intended to replace a previously recalled unit is now facing its own serious safety recall. While there is no confirmed link between these recalls beyond Aiper's own product line, this pattern suggests that consumers should be cautious when purchasing or using Aiper's cordless pool cleaners.

Understanding the Risk: Lithium-Ion Battery Fires Are Serious

Lithium-ion batteries are widely used in consumer electronics, but they require proper design, handling, and safety measures to prevent hazards.

When a battery is defective, overcharged, or exposed to extreme conditions, it can enter thermal runaway—a dangerous chain reaction leading to overheating, gas venting, and in extreme cases, fire or explosion.

The Seagull Pro recall specifically cites a charging defect that increases this risk, making this recall a critical safety action, not just a precaution.

Reported Incidents

According to the CPSC, multiple cases of overheating, melting, and fire hazards have been reported.

If you own a Seagull Pro, it is crucial that you stop using it immediately and follow the recall instructions.

What You Should Do Right Now

If you own an Aiper Seagull Pro, take the following steps immediately:

  • Stop Using It Immediately – Do not charge or operate the unit.
  • Unplug the Charger – If the device is plugged in, disconnect it right away to prevent potential overheating.
  • Follow Recall Instructions – Visit the official Aiper recall page or contact the CPSC for next steps on disposal and replacement options.
  • Warn Others – If you know someone who owns a Seagull Pro, share this information to ensure they stay safe.

A Final Message: Your Safety Comes First

At the end of the day, this is about more than just a recall—it's about protecting your home, your property, and your family.

With over 19 reports of the Aiper Seagull Pro melting, smoking, and catching fire, it's critical to act now. If you or someone you know owns one, make sure they're aware of this recall and take action immediately.

To summarize:

  • Stop using your Seagull Pro immediately
  • Follow recall instructions for safe disposal
  • Warn others who may own this model

Your safety is the top priority. Stay informed and take action to protect yourself and those around you.
